It seems that not a day goes by this winter that you don’t hear of a deadly vehicle accident on one of our Northern Highways. I really hope this is the last. My condolences to the families.
CBC’s website has a picture but I wouldn’t recommend looking at it. Having been the first person at the scene of a two fatality accident that involved fire so intense we couldn’t rescue one driver, it is hard to look at CBC’s picture of the vehicles near McLeese Lake in flames. My condolences to the families involved.
The CBC site says it is 350 km north of Vancouver ….. about 600 km is more like it by road…. and 400 for a bird …
Looks like a van with the expectation that there were multiple passengers. The roads just north of there are quite good, 3 lane for a stretch.
From the Toronto Star.

Too many accidents lately as curmudgeonscurse wrote.
Yes too many accidents and highway closures. Sad indeed.
such a fine reporting job there sug. for one who chastizes others for not getting their facts straight, you had no problem passing along incorrect information.
last week it was why are there so many accident stories on this site all of a sudden?
every one of these terrible accidents is just that, a terrible tragedy that affects many people.
I do not think this is an appropriate time to pick an argument tarcomed.
Each one of us reacts differently to such events for a whole number of differen and personal reasons.
I’ll just leave my reasons to your imagination since they are private to me.
:-(
Do you want to to know how many ppl I have known who have lost their lives on that stretch of highway over the years, numerous and many. Maybe the province could look into that stretch in their next widening campagne. God bless this family. May they rest in peace. God I hope it was not a cell call…
quit shitting on each other backwards on such a tragic time…get over yourself..stats and contoversy will not bring these ppl back….grow up and lets deal with the issue of that highway.
3 lane…2 passing south , 1 heading north on the grade
