Relay For Life Founder Here To Mark 20th Annual Event
Prince George, BC – There will be a special guest on-hand for the city’s 20th Annual Relay For Life this coming May at Masich Place Stadium.
The Canadian Cancer Society has announced that the relay’s founder, Dr. Gordon Klatt, has accepted an invitation to be part of the milestone event.
Dr. Klatt lives in Tacoma, Washington and says while he usually attends four or five relays in the US every year, this will be his first time attending a Canadian relay. "I was anxious to respond to the invitation, partly because of that," says Klatt. "I’ve been appreciative of Canada supporting this event over the years, so I’m looking forward to it and my wife is too."
The relay raises money for cancer prevention, research and support of those fighting the disease.
Dr. Klatt says he always walks a number of laps, preferring not to run anymore. "We usually go around with the survivors and talk to them. I get a lot of strength from just being there and talking to people who have experienced cancer ad supporting people who have cancer."
