RCMP Say Saturday Morning Fire Deliberately Set

Monday, February 13, 2012 @ 12:12 PM

Prince George, BC – RCMP say while no accelerants appear to have been used, they do believe a fire in a vacant duplex was deliberately set…

Police say someone noticed the flames in one side of the duplex in the 14-hundred block of McCullagh Avenue early Saturday morning, and asked a third party to call Prince George Fire Rescue.  Fire fighters from three halls arrived within minutes and quickly doused the blaze, but damage is estimated at approximately $15-thousand dollars.

RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says investigators are seeking information from the public with regards to the incident.  Anyone with information about this fire is asked to call the local detachment at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

With regards to a fire early Saturday evening in an apartment building under construction on 7th Avenue, Corporal Douglass says damage was minimal – in the $200 range – and it appears it may have been the result of efforts by a person or persons to keep warm.
