No Explosion Involved In Clinton Fatal Fire

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 @ 9:01 AM

Prince George, B.C. –  RCMP say further investigation has determined that an explosion did not spark a blaze in a residence near Clinton that claimed the lives of two men and their dog late Sunday afternoon.

Upon full examination of the site yesterday, Structural Protection Specialists with the Fire Commissioners office now believe the fire started as a result of a heat source left on the kitchen table.

The investigators say it appears the occupants of the house were likely alerted to the fire by their dog and smoke detectors, but were overcome by heat and toxic fumes as they entered the localized area of the fire.

The Fire Commission has ruled the fire as accidental and foul play is not suspected.  The names of the victims are still being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
