New Woodlot Licence Available Near Quesnel

Thursday, February 16, 2012 @ 3:55 AM

Prince George, BC – For the fourth time since 2010, the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations is making a new woodlot licence available in the Quesnel area.

The woodlot is a mix of fir and aspen and includes approximately 1,175 hectares of Crown land, approximately 35-kilometres south of Quesnel.  It has a proposed annual allowable cut of just under 15-hundred cubic metres.

There are about 860 active woodlots in the province.  Federation of BC Woodlot Associations General Manager, Brian McNaughton, says, "These small-tenure opportunities allow British Columbians the chance to manage forest land directly."

Minister Steve Thomson says these licences are one way the province continues to support new or expanded forestry opportunities for small operators.

Applications for this licence will be accepted until March 22 at 10:30am.  Further details are available at https://www23.for.gov.bc.ca/notices/init.do
