Organizer Hoping For Last Minute Rush To Fundraiser

Friday, February 24, 2012 @ 3:55 AM

Prince George, BC – Tickets are still available for this evening’s local fundraiser to help workers displaced by the Babine Lake sawmill disaster in Burns Lake…

Organizer, Joël Kress, says ticket sales have been a little slow for this evening’s event, but says Prince George has a reputation as a last-minute city and she’s confident they’ll fill up the Kinsmen Hall tonight with ticket sales at the door.

Kress is a singer with the group, Sound Addiction, which is headlining the evening of live music, dancing and silent auction. Two-time Juno nominee and local musician, Marcel Gagnon, will open the fundraiser.  Kress says Gagnon was related to one of the victims of the January 20th sawmill explosion and fire.

She says she’s been overwhelmed with an outpouring of donations from businesses both here at home, and afar – the Vancouver Canucks have donated a Manny Malhotra jersey for the silent auction, Apache Corporation in Calgary bought 25 tickets to the event in addition to donating items and cash, Quesnel Regency Chrysler sent up an auction item, as well.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets are just $20 a-piece.
