Chlorine Leak At Williams Lake Swim Meet

Williams Lake, B.C.- Several young swimmers have been taken to hospital in Williams Lake as a result of a small chlorine leak at the pool at the Cariboo Memorial recreation complex this morning.
North District RCMP spokesperson, Constable Lesley Smith, says the youth were nauseous and some were vomiting. “The chlorine leak was in a small confined space, and while none of the injuries is life threatening, several youth were taken to hospital for assessment.”
The entire complex was evacuated. Constable Smith says the area is back to normal now, and the chlorine has dissipated posing no further threat.
However, there was a swim meet underway at the pool and the home towns of the affected youth have not been released.
It is also not yet clear on the source of the leak, or how it was contained, there are initial reports that chlorine was being pumped into the pool, and the fumes overcame many of the young.
Further details will follow.

Could have been worse. Coulda been fluoride, eh? Ha ha ha .
Seriously, folks. This item was on the CBC.ca website also. For some reason the CBC had to say at the end of the news item where Williams Lake was located in relation to Vancouver. My question is, do not most folks in and around 604 know where Williams Lake is located? If not, I think we here in (unknown) PG don’t have to worry about an influx of population any time soon. Only in the news down there do our pot holes exist.
Harbinger, maybe CBC mentioned the location of Williams Lake because it is a national news service. Perhaps not all of Canada is aware of where WL is located?
I hope none of the injuries are serious.
Maybe. But I still think that of 604 especially. Sorry.
Prince George is only on the radar of smaller areas in North Central BC, because of the shopping, gambling, etc;
Once you get South of Cache Creek people have little or no concern about PG. Especially those in Greater Vancouver and the Island, and really why should they??
We are a service area that looks after the Nth Central Area, and thats about it. Roughly 350,000 people including ourselves.
Chlorine is bad news… Hopefully everyone is ok.
When the “big one” happens down in 604, that’s when PG will be the destination of choice. Not Kelowna, Vernon or Penticton. They’re gonna run out of water around ten years from now. You heard it here first. C’mon PG. Hang in there.
Come on people. Yes, people in the 604 area are aware of Prince George but you are correct in stating ‘some’ do not. Similarly, many people in Prince George do not know where Red Deer Alberta is. Does it matter? Not really. If it is important to the individual, they will look it up.
Just be proud of who and where you are. Who gives a flying “you know what” about whether or not people in other parts of the Province or Country know where you are.
