Spruce Kings On Wrong End Of Another 4-1 Score
Prince George, BC – It was the third 4-1 final score of the weekend for the Prince George Spruce Kings…unfortunately, they were on the wrong end this time.
After beating the Westside Warriors 4-1 on Friday night, and downing the Salmon Arm Silverbacks by the same score last night, the Kings fell to the league-leading Penticton Vees this afternoon.
The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the first, before the Vees scored what would be the game winner at 15:41 of the second, and added another two in the third period. Penticton outshot Prince George 46-28, with netminder Kirk Thompson facing the barrage from the Vees.
With the win, the Vees hit 100-points – tops in both the division and league. Merritt sits in second place in the Interior, two points ahead of Prince George at 68 and 66-points, respectively.
The Spruce Kings will be on the road again next weekend – in Trail for games on Friday and Saturday, and then play in Vernon on Sunday.
