Back Country Enthusiasts Hit by Thieves

Prince George, B.C.- Thieves are targetting back country recreationists.
On the weekend, a member of the Prince George RCMP was in the area of the Sugar Bowl Recreation area on another investigation when he was flagged down by a motorist on Highway 16.
The motorist had returned to his vehicle to find the driver side front window smashed. Further checks of the immediate area and the Hungry Creek Forest Service Road, found an additional four vehicles with smashed windows.
Items had been taken from each of the vehicles.
The Prince George RCMP would like to remind the public to avoid leaving valuables in vehicles. Thieves are everywhere.

Statements like this are contradictory to when RCMP and city people talk about how safe our community is.
Time for another stakeout…
I would just say it was a case of being at the wrong place at the right time (for the thieves). Probably just some lowlife driving back to his cave.
Scumbags who steal and damage the property of others are inviting a sudden and violent response from their victims if they are caught.
They would then find it difficult to persist in their lowlife endeavours, with those broken fingers and hands.
metalman.
I hope they didn’t have a loaded pistol under the seat.
Trail cameras are a wonderful tool!
I remember a few years back there was a stakeout on a pickup with a sled in the back, somewhere up around the Bear lake area. There had been a rash of trucks being broken into at the time and certain people had enough. A couple of scumbags were caught in the act but were chased off. They were identified and were later confronted at their home. I heard it wasn’t pretty. :-)
Very true Metalman. I also understand its awful difficult walking home on ones eyelids!
Just wonder how many people drove by while this was happening and didn’t want to get involved. Yes there are dangers, but sometimes you just gotta step up and do what’s right. If you don’t these goofs will rule.
Yes, but unless you see them actually breaking in or know whose vehicle it is and are sure those people shouldn’t be in or around it, it’s pretty hard to know if they are the bad guys or not.
Do you stop and ask every person you see around a vehicle everywhere you go if they have any business being there?
If you see a crime happening do the safest thing you can to stop it without endangering yourself or others, excluding the scumbag of course.
Set up bait vehicles in the areas targeted and bring the hammer down when it happens.
The only way to get justice with these scumbags is to catch them in the act and deal with them immediately.
I’m suggesting the RCMP of course. You didn’t think I was suggesting Guido. Did you?
“hope they didn’t have a loaded pistol under the seat”
What, was the Victoria Police Chief parked out there too?
Dragonmaster; eyelids = hilarious!
metalman.
The next time I go sledding in the back country. I am going to make a concoction of so called “good gas” and leave it in the back of my truck. Go ahead thieves its all yours. Lol
You’re right Chester, immediate justice is the only thing that works and I AM talking about Guido! We don’t get justice going through normal channels.
