SD57 Schools Will be Open, but No Bus Service Monday or Tuesday
Prince George, B.C.- School District 57 Superintendent Brian Pepper says while schools in the district will be open Monday, Tuesday Wednesday.
In an open letter to parents ( which can be viewed at www.sd57.bc.ca )
Pepper says the School District has received information from "undisclosed, unconfirmed sources" that "some kind of information or picket line may be in place at each school to distribute information to incoming workers. My fear is that such an action may, inadvertently cause unionized workers to return home rather than come to work. I am sharing this because it has significant implications for student safety."
Pepper says the front door of each school will remain open, but there will be no instruction program provided for students "Any student who arives at school will be given access to a warm, secure room while principals make contact with parents/guardians or emergency contacts to arrange safe passage home . We strongly suggest that you consider making alternate care arrangements for your child, as we are worried about our ability to provide adequate supervision for those students who arrive at school. That said, we will definitely do our best."
Superintendent Pepper says there will be no bus transportation Monday or Tuesday and that parents will be informed Monday via the school district’s website about transpsortation arrangements for Wednesday and beyond.

I think kids should go to school during the strike and demand to be taught by the administrators. They have degrees, they were teachers before. If the government thinks school is so important that teachers shouldn’t be allowed to strike, then they should have no problem with kids coming to school when the teachers aren’t there.
