Prince George, B.C. — The Cariboo Cougars have a tough test for a playoff tune-up on the road as they face the Greater Vancouver Canadians gunning for a home playoff date in the first round of the playoffs. 

The road trip closes out the regular season schedule for the Cougars who are riding a four-game win streak and are undefeated in their last nine. 

Last weekend the Cougars clinched second place in the BCMML and a first-round playoff bye, but the team refuses to get complacent. 

"We got to work on our power play, get that ready for the playoffs, make sure it’s in top shape for playoffs, PK and everything, just be ready for the playoffs," said defenceman Colby Braaten. 

Head Coach Trevor Sprague echoed those comments as he looks forward to facing a fellow playoff contender after two consecutive weeks against weaker opponents. 

"We’ve got to come out with some consistency and take the game to them and say, hey, this is playoff hockey and this is the reason why we finished second in the league, and make sure we’re the better team by the end of the weekend," said Sprague. 

The Cougars record stands at 24-8-6 heading into this final weekend while the Canadians 18-12-8 record puts them in fifth place, just two points back of both the Chiefs and Rockets.

Puckdrop for Saturday night’s game is set for 7:45 at the Burnaby Winter Club with Sunday’s rematch at 11:30 at the Ladner Leisure Centre.  Both games can be viewed live at www.cariboocougars.ca.
