Cariboo Cougars Win Fifth Straight

Burnaby, B.C. — Josh Connolly’s third period snipe was enough in the end as the Cariboo Cougars shutout the Greater Vancouver Canadians 1-0 Saturday night at the Burnaby Winter Club.

The win marks the Cougars fifth straight victory and extends the team’s unbeaten streak to ten games.

The two teams remained scoreless through the first two periods before Connolly went on an end-to-end rush finally beating Canadians goaltender Chris Tai just over one minute into the final frame.

David Readman stopped all shots sent his way for his third shutout of the season, and second straight for the Cats.  On their current five game win streak, the Cougars have outscored their opponents by a combined 35-3.

The Cougars went 0/2 on the power play killing off all seven penalties.

The win improves the Cougars record to 25-8-6 heading into their final regular season game Sunday morning as they take on the Canadians at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
