Fatal Crash Closes Highway 16 near Topley

Topley, B.C. – Road conditions may have played a role in a fatal collision this morning along Highway 16.
Houston RCMP were called out to a two vehicle crash at 8:35 am between a pickup and a tractor trailer about 1.6 kilometres east of 6 Mile Hill outside of Topley. The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.
North District West Traffic Services says the road was covered with snow and slippery at the time of the crash, but RCMP are still investigating.
Highway 16 is expected to remain closed until approximately 4:00 pm today. Drivers are being asked to check the Drive BC website for updates.
The identity of the person killed in the collision is being withheld until his family can be notified.

Got stuck on the wrong side of the accident whiile heading home from Telkwa. Will miss a day of work. Condolences to the famile. Road was really icy at the time. May have to stay in Telkwa for the evening which is fine with me.
