Election Expense Reporting Deadline Passes

Prince George, B.C. – The deadline for candidates in November’s civic election to file their Campaign Financing Disclosure Statements has now passed.

 

Myrt Turner, who ran for the position of councilor and finished 11th in the polling with 4182 votes, received contributions totalling $8609.30 and had expenses of $8496.98. Turner spent $7149.30 of her own money on the campaign, with another $1000 coming from Wolftek Industries.  She spent $2602.88 on electronic and print advertising, $3413.92 on signs, pamphlets and brochures.

 

Lyn Hall topped the polls with 9529 votes. To do that he had contributions and expenditures of $8514.33. Wood Wheaton was his largest single supporter with a contribution of $2500. Central Builders Home Hardware contributed $1500, while $1250 came from Industrial Forestry Services. Hall himself spent $865.33.   He spent $2774.19 on radio, tv and newspaper advertising. $5664.72 was spent on signs, brochures and flyers. 

 

Brad Gagnon received 2625 votes in the councilor election. He had contributions and expenses of $696.50. The total contribution came from Loretta Minke at Zoe’s Java House. $621.50 was spent on signs, pamphlets, brochures and flyers. $75 was spent on transportation.

 

Jordan Gadsby fell one position short of being elected to council with 5117 votes. He reports contributions of $13209 and expenses of $12528. Gadsby spent $6000 of his own money on the campaign. Ed grant contributed $1500, BK Two Way Radio $1084, Barb Lloyd $1000, Betty Bryce $900, Sandy D’Amour $610 and Deon Kinnee $500. The remaining personal contributions were of lesser amounts.   Gadsby spent $3555.31 on radio, tv and print advertising, $6247.76 on signs, pamphlets and brochures. $900 went to rent, $599.28 to furniture and telecommunication equipment, $522.72 to meeting expenses.

 

Bruce Fadar ran for mayor and collected 306 votes. He reports no contributions and no expenses.

 

John Beebe received 2443 votes in the election. He had no contributions and spent $350 on signs, panphlets, brochures and leaflets.

It’s amazing how many of those signs still lay around the city

Wolftek industries was sure covering thier butts this election. They contributed to quite a few of the campaigns. I guess the more lottery tickets you buy the better the chances you have of getting a winner.

I’m out collecting signs as I see them appearing from the snowbanks, but I’m sure I’m not seeing all of them…. You can even let me know if you see another candidate’s sign and I’ll either get the message to them or collect it myself.

Interesting when I look at the submitted details of the election contributions. And to think that some of the contributors are the same ones that own a certain property that the councillors voted for in a rezoning issue. And these old/new councillors do not think it looks like a conflict of interest. At least Green was smart enough to back out of what looked like a conflict of interest…….
