Keg Officially Opens
David Eisenstadt from the Keg’s head office, and local franchise owner Kelly Nordin hold the ribbon as Mayor Shari Green makes the cut, officially opening the Keg Restaurant.
Prince George, B.C.- It has been about 2 years and $3.5 million dollars in renovations, and this afternoon the Keg Restaurant reopened. "It seemed it would never happen" said Keg franchisee Kelly Nordin.
Rick Hansen was on and for the official ribbon cutting, saying he remembers coming to the Keg back in the day when he used to visit Prince George from Williams Lake. He has a family connection to the newly renovated Keg as his niece, Alexis Moore, is employed at the restaurant.
All members of City Council were on hand, with Mayor Shari Green doing the ribbon cutting honouors "We are very proud of you" saidMayor Green to see Kelly Nordin, "And we are so very pleased you have made this committment to downtown Prince George."
The newly renovated Keg features a new patio area which will have a waterfall at the north end. There are seven fireplaces inside the Keg, private dining areas, and a state of the art boardroom for private conferences.
The artwork in the new Keg is all original. ( at right, three pieces of art in one of the dining areas)
But there remains a touch of the past.
The beams overhead are from the original Keg and add a rustic touch to the otherwise modernized restaurant.

Too bad it’s downtown; that’s one place I avoid like the plague.
Menu prices commensurate?
Your right Faxman….this is PG! we don’t deserve a restaurant this nice. Lets all hate each other!!
Dinner was amazing on Saturday night. Its Business owners like this that have faith in the downtown area that will make it a better place.
I was fortunate to be invited on Friday evening and was very impressed with the end result. I think they will do very well. Congratulations for following through with the extensive and updated renovations. Probably one of the nicest Keg’s in the country.

I dunno…it’s going to take a lot more than mediocre food to fix what ails downtown PG. Where can you go and what can you do after dinner? Nothing and nowhere in downtown PG that’s for sure.
Hey, it’s close to City Hall, and the new proposed PAC,! Go figure……..
Rah Rah Rah there passthenickel double veggies. What the heck are the mayor and council doing at the opening of a restaurant? Why aren’t they at work trying to come up with a solution to fix the problem with our streets? If restaurant openings are so important where was the photo op at Foodteller, Tony Romas, the places on Fifth, on the other side of George? That’s nice that you enjoyed the food. That’s nice that you all got your picture taken with Rick Hansen. Council get off the pot and deal with the issues your salary (and 30% increase) is being paid to you for.
Dead on “One Democrat”, what are these over paid politicians doing? Can you answer Ms. GREEN?
FIX THE ROADS………..How difficult is that to understand? I’ll bet 4th Ave. gets a remake in front of HER MAJESTY GREEN’S store!
Look at that, even a guy from Calgary complains about Prince George.
Shoot, I wonder if I’m wrong about this town, I always thought it was an okay place.
metalman.
metalman, I may come back if they fix the roads and reduce the taxes! I was born in Prince George in 1952. As far back as I can remember we had gravel roads, graded on a regular basis.
Now you have gravel roads, only graded in the winter!
And one more thing, we all had potholes. They were in our back yards, and covered by little buildings with a moon shaped window cut in the door! Eaton’s catalog was there for the reading!
Yep, life was good in the old days…
It’s very bad with the huge deep cracks and potholes everywhere! That’s what happens when for 13 years road maintenance and water and sewer upgrades were practically ignored in favour of wishlist mega projects! Only the very minimum was done, basically only when roads became virtually impossible to drive on.
One major road for instance was done in 1981. Then it was very good for about 24 years, not so good for another 5 years.
Now it was paved over in 2010, after 29(!) years of service. The new pavement (after less than 2 years!) is already full of cracks! The first potholes will show up any day now!
What kind of pavement was used 30 years ago? It lasted a quarter of a century! What IS the inferior garbage made of which passes as an excuse for pavement these days?
Something does NOT addup.
The Keg is for the rich. No big deal. I can go to Crave and get as good a meal for less than half the cost.
Where is Crave. Never herd of it.
Cheers
Retired 02 the crave is located at Treasure Cove Casino /Hotel. where the publik Restaraunt used to be. Cheers
Can’t wait for Friday. Speaking of our ‘burgs shortcomings, next time you see a city garbage truck, take a real close look at it. They are very worn out. I’ve seen better looking Tempos and Topazes struggling to get around. I predict in a few weeks or a few months the city is going to announce they will have to borrow mega-bucks to have these trucks replaced. All that start and stopping plus our crappy roads take a much larger toll on these trucks than do yours. Remember this. You heard it here first. One more thing. As Inspector Columbo would say, “Your garbage pick up rates will climb to cover part of these costs”. Have a nice day.
Looks like The Keg is open again.
Talk about going off on a tangent, eh?
What is really the harm in having another great food establishment in Prince George? Don’t we want our city to have nice places to eat? Seems like a good deal to me, no one is forcing anyone to go if they are uncomfortable with the price.
People don’t have any problem with the Keg. It’s a great place. People on his site just want to opine. Every one has an agenda. Mouthing off on a site like this annonnymously is ONE of the few freedoms we have left. Just wait until it’s gone.
