Prince George, B.C. – More information is expected to be released today about a credit card security breach that could affect 10 million North American holders of Visa and MasterCard accounts.
Hackers apparently managed to breach the security of a credit card payment processing company called Global payments. The firm is holding a press conference today to address the problem, which was just uncovered Friday.
Banking officials on this side of the border, including right here in Prince George, say it’s possible Canadian credit cards have been compromised. They advise you to look very carefully at your statement for any suspicious charges. Any discrepancies should be reported immediately to your card provider. The officials also say a person will not be held responsible for any charges fraudulently made on their card.
