March Weather – Non Descript

Prince George, B.C. – The weather stats show, the month of March, was “non descript” says Environment Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele.
Steele says there were a few periods of slightly above normal temperatures, and a few periods of below normal temperatures, but nothing abnormal on either end of the thermometer.
In all, Steele says the temperatures were very close to the norm.
It was a little drier than normal, with “In the end, both snowfall and rainfall were below normal with the monthly rainfall showing the greatest departure from normal” says Steele.
Here are the details of his monthly report:
Temperatures
- Average daily high of 4.7 was near the normal of 5.0 degrees C.
- Average daily low of -5.7 was near the normal of -5.5 degrees C.
- Mean temperature of -0.5 was near the normal -0.3 degrees C.
- Warmest Day on the 27th with a maximum temperature of 10.1 degrees
- Coldest day on the 6th with an overnight minimum of -18.7 degrees
Precipitation
- Total precipitation of 22.8 mm was 69% of the normal of 32.7 mm.
- Total Snowfall of 17.0 cm was 74% of the normal of 22.9 cm
- Total rainfall of 2.5 mm was 19% of the normal of 13.1 mm
- Measurable precipitation on 8 days below the normal of 12 days
- Greatest snowfall one day 6.0 cm on the 4th
- Greatest rainfall one day 0.8 mm on the 3rd
