Special Website Established to Deal With Credit Card Info Breach

Prince George, B.C.- Global Payments has set up a special website for credit card holders concerned their cards may have been fraudulently accessed during a security breach.
The company reports the breach it reported on Friday of last week has been contained, and that no more that 1.5 million cards in North America were subject to the breach.
Global Payments Chairman and CEO Paul Garcia says the investigation to date indicates cardholder names, addresses social security numbers and banking information were not accessed.
Visa has removed Global Payments as one of it’s preferred service providers, Garcia says Global Payments is now focused on the remediation efforts necessary to be reinstated with Visa.
Credit card users are asked to keep an eye on their statements for any unauthorized purchases. Consumers victimized by this breach will not be held responsible for those unauthorized purchases.

We were at a restaurant in Langley. When we went to pay our bill our card was swiped but the transaction would not go through. We were told that the card machine wasnât working that well and the provided another debit machine We accepted the explanation.
It took about a month when we got our statement there were additional charges that amounted to over $10,000.00. Some charges were as for away as Europe.
Visa was very good they sent us a statement and asked us too indicate the charges that we had made and we were off the hook. We inquired if we should report the theft and were told that they had there own investigative team to look after the matter. End of story
