Dust Advisory Continues
Prince George, B.C.- The Dust advisory continues for Prince George as weather patterns are holding dust particles in the bowl area.
PM10 concentrations were 78 µg/m3 Plaza 400 downtown, 42 µg/m3 at College Heights, and 78 µg/m3 at BCR at 1pm today. This episode is expected to continue until there is a change in weather patterns.
The current dusty conditions are caused by road traffic stirring up winter traction materials that have accumulated on roadways over the past winter.
Light winds and dry conditions overnight as well as clear skies contributed to dust accumulating in the air shed. Air quality is expected to be better at higher elevations. Levels should improve somewhat this afternoon but increase again this evening. Levels are expected to decrease late tonight as clouds and precipitation are forecast to move into the region.

No kidding, so I ask City Hall and YRB where are the sweepers. Roads have been dry for some time now, and yes the dust is unreal is some parts. BCR Industrial area is very bad. Clean this city up, it looks disgusting. I can’t believe all the garbage that has accumulated along the roadways.
A person traveling through, nomatter which direction can see all the litter from what I would assume from peoples vehicles. It is disgusting.
Ah the good old days when you saw prisoners on the side of the road picking litter. I think I did see some on Foothills last year. Oh, someone mentioned yesterday the city is not allowed to sweep during air quality advisories……I guess a little rain would be a good thing.
It would go a long ways if the City could monitor these outfits sweeping private parking lots without using water.
Damn those traction materials.
