Prince George, B.C. – For the past 18 years, Cuyler Green, the Director of Operations for the Prince George Airport Authority has been growing his hair, and this morning, it all came off.
Green had made a pledge to cut his hair and donate the curly locks to the Canadian Cancer Society’s wig program.
He took pledges for the past month, and promised the person who donated the most would get to make the first cut.
While there were two  people who each donated $200 dollars, neither was able to attend this morning’s event, so the winner by default was Jamie Smith, the Manager of Operations at YXS.

In all, Green collected a little over $2500 dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society in addition to the donation of 18 inches of hair which will be used to make wigs. Canadian Cancer Society spokesperson, Marjo Vanhelvoirtkoop said the importance of the Society’s wig program can not be overstated. “Just last week, we had a woman come to our wig room because she had lost her hair through cancer treatment. When she left, she was walking tall and proud, because once part of her life had been returned to normal.”
Cuyler’s wife, Sidse was likely the most nervous about this morning’s event, “I have never known Cuyler without long hair” she said, and when she cut off the final “ponytail”,   gave the remaining hair a loving tousle.

Cuyler says he will have to learn to live with his new short crop “I will have to start wearing sun screen on the back of my neck, I will have to find some way to keep my ears warm, but I won’t miss it when waiters come to our table and say ‘ can I help you ladies?’ “.

Will he grow it back? That remains to be seen as Green says his curly hair poses definite challenges “It grows up and out long before gravity takes over” says Green.

It’s such a nice feeling to have not only raised money but to donate hair. I donated a 14 inch long pony tail once. I had never coloured my hair and just let it grow. I’m glad some one could use it! Thanks mr green!
