Tuesday, April 17, 2012 @ 3:56 AM
Prince George, B.C- For the first time in more than a decade,  the presidents of 5 B.C. universities will be visiting  Prince George and will attend a forum on northern development and the growing need in the region for skilled employees.
The event Wednesday is hosted by UNBC President George Iwama,  who is also the Chair of the Research Universities Council of BC. All of the Presidents are members of the   Research Universities Council. The council’s mandate is to identify issues facing the universities, provide system-wide leadership in the development of relevant public policy, and communicate on behalf of the university system. RUCBC also acts as a provincial focal point for relations with governments and other provincial and national bodies associated with universities.
The CEO of the Northern Development Initiatives trust, Janine North, will be making a presentation “The Northern Decade, a Call to Action for BC’s Universities” which will be followed by a discussion.
