Time to Do Some Spring Clean Up
Prince George B.C.- Later this morning, Mayor Shari Green and members of Council will be picking up litter near Griffith near Prince George Secondary School in an effort to promote the annual Clean to the Core spring clean up campaign.
This Sunday, residents are encouraged to take part in the City wide clean up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from boulevards, ditches, road sides, school yards, trails and streets. If you see litter, this is the time to pick it up.
Garbage bins will be located at several spots around the city for the litter collection:
- 5th and Killoren
- Ospika Boulevard – Andres Road
- 3rd Avenue and Watrous Street
- 2nd Avenue and George Street
- College Heights Secondary School
- Parkridge Heights (Bunce Road and Park Drive)
- Hudson’s Bay Slough
- Hart Shopping Centre
The Clean to the Core Campaign is taking place a week later than normal which is an effort to catch the possibility of more favourable weather.
As has been the case in the past, group or individuals wanting to register their participation and get free litter bags, can contact events@reaps.org or call City Hall at 250-561-7327

The city is ridiculous in its efforts to keep the city clean. There has been a large brown pillow on the Nechako Bridge now for two weeks… looks like a dead dog or something… wonder how many city trucks just drove on past it. I haven’t seen any street sweepers out yet this year… my street has so much gravel its 4inches thick on the shoulder. Garbage everywhere in the parks with little to no bins available until maybe now I don’t know, but a week ago you couldn’t find one.
The garbage lying around the city looks terrible and we are used to it…between the garbage, dust and dirt it must look really bad to visitors.
I think it’s been worse, especially on the outskirts, since they implemented the dumping fees. people would rather spend their $4 at Timmies. If they are going to limit the garbage cans then they should have free dumping. Lots of us used to drop off garbage in the summer instead of using the garbage cans so that we never had to worry about bears but I’m not going to pay twice for it so now use the cans.
Use your “4 inches of gravel” to fill in yer pot holes or else offer it to some one else. You do have pot holes on your street, don’t you? I do.
No I have a sink hole… four inches of gravel won’t cover it. They put up a couple of cones and a stick to warn people of the sink hole.
