Clark Issues Statment On NDP Win
Friday, April 20, 2012 @ 1:10 AM
Victoria- Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement on today’s
by-elections:
"I’m so proud of the great work of our strong BC Liberal candidates, Laurie
Throness and Dennis Marsden in today’s by-elections in Port Moody-Coquitlam
and Chilliwack-Hope. Congratulations to Joe Trasolini and Gwen O’Mahony on
their wins.
"Voters know that by-elections are not about changing government. It’s
never been clearer that only a unified free enterprise coalition can defeat
the NDP. That’s why we are focused on strengthening our coalition so that
in the next general election voters will have a clear choice between the
free enterprise coalition and the NDP. A choice between higher income
taxes, reckless government spending and runaway debt or our free enterprise
coalition that is keeping taxes low, restraining government spending and
keeping our economy growing with jobs for B.C. families."

Christys statement
**Higher taxes and services** reckless Government spending, runaway debt,** describes to a tee the Liberal Government.
She refers to income taxes as opposed to taxes and services, and of course ignores increased rates in Hydro, Transit, Ferries, ICBC, to name but a few.
How stupid do the Liberals think we are??
We are caught between two Political Parties who cannot do anything but spend tax dollars without any consideration to those people who pay the taxes.
In the next election Vote Independent. That should send a message to both the Liberals and NDP.
Ms Clark is in total denial and again vividly displays her lack of leadership qualities. Get ready, Christy, to watch your MLAs start jumping ship between now and the provincial election. Oh, its going to be massive as they walk out of Clark and head to their law offices, crown corporations etc with their government pensions in tow. The “free enterprise coalition” turned out to be crooked and deceitful and should be gone.
John Les says the Conservatives need to hook up with the Liberals to form a strong right wing party. Why would they want to? The Liberals are so soiled nobody wants anything to do with them.
OD: “Get ready, Christy, to watch your MLAs start jumping ship between now and the provincial election.”
You might be right. Where have we seen this before? Oh yeah, when the NDP got voted into oblivion the last time they were in power. Now we’re ready to give these clowns another chance. Look out, BC.
BC politics being as cyclical as they are, its now the turn of the NDP to govern once again, the feeling being at this point that they can’t be any worse than the Christy/Campbell gang. BC Rail, Basi-Virk 6-million dollar defence fees, HST, long list of ineptitude. Heck the NDP took a riding (Chilliwack-Hope) that is staunchly conservative and had NEVER elected an MLA from a left of centre party. What does that tell you about the voters’ feelings about the Liberals? Time for Clark and her pom-pom wavers to be gone. If all the Libs have to throw at Dix is that he didn’t have his Translink pass with him, or that the NDP can only be elected with a split vote, then they (Libs) should go quietly into the night.
I’m going to go quietly into Alberta. :-)
Clark and the Lieberal idea of free enterpise is lie about the HST, lie about the deficit before the last general election, increase hydro rates, increase medicare premiums, cover up the BC rail scandal, etc. If this is free enterprise I want no part of it.
Joe taxpayer is far worse off now under the rule of the Lieberals than at any time under the NDP.
For the first time ever the NDP will get my vote.
We now have 2 tier hydro billing for power. The lower tier power cost is limited to 22 kw per day or about $45.00 per month before the add-ons. Anybody operating a normal household have a power bill under $55.00 a month all in? Rather doubtful. The Lieberals quietly increased the tier 2 power cost by about 12%. Gotta love the Libs and free enterprise and all they do for the taxpayer of BC.
As the saying goes with friends like this…who needs enenies.
“If all the Libs have to throw at Dix is that he didn’t have his Translink pass with him, or that the NDP can only be elected with a split vote…”
Don’t forget the document forging scandal. Vote splitting is very real, as evidenced by the recent byelections down south.
If the Liberals and the Conservatives can somehow find a way to merge before the next election, the NDP’s road to power suddenly gets a little rougher.
There’s a solution – vote with your conscience. Mine is Green.
Bang on Palopu.
We may very well be poised to see a sharp rise in the number of people who choose to vote for the independant.
The B.C.Liberals are a prime example of everything that is wrong with the party system.
Blind loyalty to your party leader, even when they are selling the party down the road, is just plain stupid.
Now,all the B.C.Liberals will pay the price for what has been done by a few self-serving morons at the deep end of the party trough.
Hope it was worth it to them when they are all out looking for job because of a small faction of liars and cons they sat there and allowed to run amuck.
It didn’t have to end this way.
I suspect that it was worth it…for a few.
Johnny: If the Liberals and Conservatives can somehow find a way to merge…..
Question is, why would the Conservatives, who are on the way up (albeit slowly) want to join with the Liberals, who are on the way down and may well be wiped off the map in their present form in the general election? The Conservatives need the Libs like they need a dose.
And try as you may to recall NDP scandals, they are few in number compared to the Campbell/Clark era. Between the Libs here and the dictatorial Harperites in Ottawa who re-write the rules as they go its little wonder people are disgusted with politicians. Off to the trough Christy and Co.
“Question is, why would the Conservatives, who are on the way up (albeit slowly) want to join with the Liberals, who are on the way down and may well be wiped off the map in their present form in the general election? “
Why would they? Because they don’t want to split the right vote. I thought I’d explained that already. Look at the results from the recent byelections to see what I mean.
Forget about the independants. They are a non-factor. Much like the Green party.
Christy Clark and her cohorts of monopoly capitalists are nothing even close to free enterprise so who are they to claim she is the leader of the free enterprise coalition. All that does is confirm they are habitual liars.
No party has done more to attack the middle class and small business in this province than the BC liberals. They have no right to claim anything to do with free enterprise.
Free enterprise is about equalizing opportunity through the efforts of good merit. You don’t equalize opportunity by jacking up premiums on everything from utilities to health care and education… that is most definitely not free enterprise.
The BC liberals are about giving away the province to the highest bidder monopolizing BC resources to large multinational monopoly capitalists.
What BC needs is a real free enterprise party that really stands for equalizing opportunity for the middle class small business free enterprise community. If we had a party or coalition of like minded independents than I would support and even try to run as a candidate for them… we don’t have that in BC and the BC liberals most definitely are not that party.
Free enterprise is too expensive.
“Free enterprise is too expensive.”
Not as expensive as socialism.
Complain all you want about the Liberal government!Bottom line is if you want to move ahead B.C. is an easy place to do so! If you want to be entitled and complain about people that move ahead, B.C. is an easy place to do so. If you want the NDP in, we can all complain about how easy it is to move ahead in Alberta.
