Alright Libs, time to rally. Name Gordon C’s top 2 achievements as Premier of British Columbia

Wouldn’t be checking out the drunk tank in Hawaii and lying about the hst?

The City is again looking for ways to increase revenue and are planning on sending two students door to door in an attempt to earn $25 in dog license fees. I am not sure how much training they will receive before they are sent out, but I am sure they will have learned a lot before they are finished.
If the City really wants to increase revenue they should consider identifying the many illegal suites that are available for rent. The bi-annual utility bills for garbage, water and sewer for the extra units would more than pay the wages of the staff. Fire inspections would protect, in particular, low income renters. I have seen a basement suite, which was one of three, that featured a 2 burner stove, bar fridge and extension cords everywhere. Another bad situation was a duplex where the garages were 2 suites each making it a 6-plex. The kitchen and living room had a window each but neither of the two bedrooms had a window. There was also only one door to the outside, a second door was blocked by the fridge.
A great start would be reading the real estate listings, rental ads, postings at the college and university and checking on-street parking. Make a few phone calls, take a drive and check it out. Mortgage helper, in-law suite, nanny suite, second kitchen are all good clues.
Not only could the City generate meaningful ongoing revenue, but they could also protect vulnerable residents from potentially dangerous housing.

No joeboy; I think it is the nearly $100 BILLION in hidden debt under the P3 banner & the BCR lies and scandal!

YEE HAW about time that the NDP wins the 2 by-elections. How’s that crusty? LOL LOL LOL. Now just wait. The NDP is going to steamroll the rest of this expensive province REAL SOON. It is highly unlikely that crusty can hang on for another year. These LIE berals have just simply done too much damage to this province. And just like the HST vote WE THE PEOPLE are FED UP and almost bankrupt from your HST and your arrogance and you will soon be removed from office. Do you think we are all millionaires? The LIE berals are FINISHED in the province of BC. How about a general strike now to force these right wing scum out of office NOW. We want the NDP. They have promised to tax these corporations at a rate that will be what they owe. It should be 50 percent IMO but maybe that’s a bit much. What ever it turns out to be it can not come too soon. ANd the inquiries can then start and WE THE PEOPLE can see how we been getting screwed for the last 11 years. Makes me feel good to know that the NDP is back in full power and it will happen province wide just as soon as possible. Congradulations Adrian. You have the support of the majority of citizens of this once affordable province. Please do something now to get rid of these campbell scums as soon as possible.

Soon the HST will be extinquished and the LIE berals will be exterminated. COMPLETELY

Choooooo…..Choooooo LOL LOL LOL LOL

You’re nuts if you think the NDP is going to be any better for the province than the Liberals. The main issue is there is no viable alternative to either party so we’ll end up electing the NDP again and pushing the province back into economic hell…..

Just like it was the last time the NDP were in power…..

Because with the liberals we are so economically strong ? Both parties get in with lies then do what ever the want.

Ya hoo Eeeeehaaa with 2 NDP wins it’s almost time to move to Alberta!!!!

Please don’t forget to take the time and effort this weekend to sign the AAP forms to stop the city for wasting another 5.5 million dollars of taxpayer money.
Forms are available on the city website as well as Northern hardware.
It is our only chance to stop this out of control city council who so fondly use the AAP rather than giving the citizens a voice via a referendum.

It’s amazing that Bill Vanderzalm has been instrumental in the economic destruction of this province not once but twice. What a guy.

Comments like mattyc’s serve to remind us all of why socialism should never be an option.

Posted by: weaksauce on April 20 2012 7:41 AMIt’s amazing that Bill Vanderzalm has been instrumental in the economic destruction of this province not once but twice. What a guy.

Get real. Please explain to us all now how it is the Zalms fault. Sounds like just another desperate LIE beral spin. Blame everyone else. Well guess what. SOON the NDP will have a majority in the province and then what spin story will you give us? The LIE berals are FINISHED. Please now explain that for us weaksauce.

Soon the HST will be extinquished and the LIE berals will be exterminated. COMPLETELY

Choooooo…..Choooooo LOL LOL LOL LOL

So how many dog tag sales does it take to fill a pot hole?
If 3 tags are sold per hour $75.00 is generated. Subtract the $17.00 wage plus worksafe costs, cpp, etc, and the net is close to $50.00. Behind the scene there must be some city hall people involved giving the dog tag sellers direction plus the paper work cost. Subtract another $14.00. Net profit $36.00 for 3 dog tag sales or 12 bucks net profit per tag.
A few years ago one of the councillors did some high level math and divided the total dollars spent on patching pot holes by the total number of pot holes patched and came up with a cost of $43.00 per pot hole.
In order to patch 10,000 pot holes at a cost of $43.00 per pot hole means sales of 35,833 dog tags sales needs to take place.
Sure makes sense to me. I can see why our councillors would jump all over this fantastic revenue generating opportunity.

Resident- at least you gave me a good laugh this morning! And just think–new potholes show up every single day. They’ll NEVER CATCH UP.

Matt, would you like the explanation to include made up words and choo-choo train noises?

So it is just a matter of turning the shuttered lumber mills into puppy mills in order to get the roads up to a minimum standard.Genius!

I think that matty will get a pretty rude awakening when he finds out Dix will not just be taxing corporations but also reaching deeply into his pocket to fund bigger civil service, higher welfare rates, etc, etc.

Under Dix I wonder how long before we are again receiving equalization payments from Ottawa.

All you folks talking about government power taxes economy and such, what do you think of the new world order the useless UN in proposing based on carbone tax. Which in it self, C02 has no proven effects on climate if any. Its mainly a greenies wet dream.

“The upcoming United Nations environmental conference on sustainable development will consider a breathtaking array of carbon taxes, transfers of trillions of dollars from wealthy countries to poor ones, and new spending programs to guarantee that populations around the world are protected from the effects of the very programs the world organization wants to implement, according to stunning U.N. documents examined by Fox News.”

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2012/04/20/tab-for-uns-rio-summit-trillions-per-year-in-taxes-transfers-and-price-hikes/

faux news is anything but a credible source.

Weaksauce, the choo choo train sounds you hear are the childish antics of mattyc that can not spell liberals. And mattyc what will you do when your employer(if you have one) decides to lock everything up and get out of BC because it has become too expensive to do business here. No different than the last time NDP were in power. Seems to me they built 3 fast ferries for 1/2 billion dollars and they quickly became scrap worth.

Just reading Tony Blairs book. He states that New labour ( his party) in Britain will not touch corporate tax it should remain at a level 15%. Thats almost twice the canadian tax on corporations.

The 15% tax was set by the conservatives the previuos government. Makes one wonder how greedy our Canadian corporations are. I hope that Dix reads the book as Blaire made some great changes in Britain all for the good of his country.

And all you dix haters give him a chance. Its just your imagination and lack of knowledge that the previous NDP government was a boon doggle. They actualy did quite well considering what they had to work with.

Just compare the expenditures of the present liberals on pet projects using tax dollars against the assumed boon doggle ceted by the NDP on the fast ferries and its a cake walk. An whats worse the liberals then gave away the perfectly good ferries to our american freinds.

Cheers

I can just see the NDP will be blamed in future Years for the closure of Sawmills for luck of Timber and bringing the Pine Beetle to BC , rising Waterlevels and Earthquakes.

Never trust a party which has NoMoMOE for a president and a leader who signs fake documents and rides for free on a transportation system paid for by honest people!

“Under Dix I wonder how long before we are again receiving equalization payments from Ottawa.”

Well said! Fasten your seatbelts, it will be a very rough ride, again!

And then we will still refuse to control yet another beetle infestation BEFORE it gets out of a park to wreak havoc on the pitiful rest of the forests!

And we will replace the conventional new ferries with ones made out of aluminum which may make them 15 minutes faster one way!

Laugh of the day:”Perfectly good ferries!”

I wonder if the Provincial NDP will send the Conservatives a political donation to thank them for splitting the right vote?

Good post, Banner.
I too have seen quite a few illegal suites that are definitely unsafe, in terms of escape from fire. No smoke detectors, or inoperative ones if they are there, no windows, in conjunction with only one door or one stairway to the exterior.
It would be good to see the City enforcing their own bylaws in this respect. I hope that it does not take a death to bring this issue to the forefront.
metalman.

I retract the earlier statement made in error about fake documents: It was only one fake document.

“I wonder if the Provincial NDP will send the Conservatives a political donation to thank them for splitting the right vote?”

Anything is possible in B.C. politics, although a donation to Mr. Campbell would probably be more fair, imho.

One forged document or a hundred, it does not matter, when added to the fact he also cheats skytrain it shows which way his moral compass is pointed. Suitable name:-)

The other day the PG Citizen had on the front page pictures of pot holes designated to be repaired first. They were outlined by a can of spray paint. Want your “unfavourite” pot hole fixed? Spend a couple of bucks on a matching spray paint can and “knock yerself out”.

And then we will still refuse to control yet another beetle infestation BEFORE it gets out of a park to wreak havoc on the pitiful rest of the forests
===========================================

Its like I said it’s the lack of knowledge that blames the NDP for all the whoes of the Province.

The pine beetle infestation started in the Cariboo during the Socred rein.. And to think that logging the pine in Tweedsmuir Park would of solved the problem is shear ignorance. It would of been impossible to keep up with the logging to control the infestation.

As for the ferries they where no different then a lot of new technology , it has its problems. There is no reason why those ferries could not of been redesigned to fix a few problems. They were built in British Columbia and not in a foreign country to gain the profit. And tell us how many times these great German ferries have been in dry dock since they went into service.

The people on the Island wanted a faster service and because the ferries kicked up a wash to annoy the rich guys that had homes on Horshoe Bay the ferries were no good.

Oh yes Dix had a pass for the train ride but Gregor Robertson didn’t And I guess Premiers that get drunk and end up in drunk tank are more acceptable then a misdemeanor by others. And It dosent matter if Dix is not your type of guy just get some facts before blowing your horn. Cheers’

There was no economic woes in the NDP’s first term in office under Harcourt. In the early 90’s there was a recession that hit all of Canada, except BC. Our economy actually grew in the early 90’s.
When Clark took over, the economy was going good until the Asian economy crashed and it crashed hard. Especially Japan. BC did a lot of business in Asia at that time and still do. During all of this time, there was the war in the woods between the forest industry and the environmentalist (mostly backed by groups from Europe and the US).
Yes there were some things that Clark did wrong and slowed growth, but the NDP was not solely responsible for the problems from the late 90s. There were a lot of things that happened could not be stopped by anyone in BC.

lonesome sparrow did you read it. I suggest you do then make a reasoned intelligent comment. Are you able to do that.

Oh by the way just what is a credible news source? Herhttp://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/04/19/climate-craziness-of-the-week-forbes-steve-zwick-loses-it/

mattyc: And you’re just going to swallow everything NDP candidates tell you? Wow! Try to name one politician who has ever kept his word on promises made. The NDP had not committed to get rid of the HST either.

Personally, I’d like to see everything promised, in writing and then hold themselves to it. Also no surprises that ‘someone’ conveniently ‘forgot’ to mention, like the HST and the sale of BC Rail.
Anything big like that should go to a referendum of the whole province. Lets see someone promise that!

If you’re driving a chip truck, please take special care. Three in this case is not a charm!
Have a nice careful, enjoyable weekend everyone!

If only was a matter of a redesign to get the ferries in shape why did no one step up and buy them when they were first put up on the block for a fraction of their cost?

They created unacceptable wakes at speeds less than the ships they were replacing, flawed design right from the get go. Major cracks appearing in the structure after only a few runs, sat for years on the north shore and were sold for scrap value.

Dix “lost” his skytrain ticket and the dog ate his homework.

Just for grins, name the last BC government/premier who you think actually did the province some good?

Just for grins, name the last BC government/premier who you think actually did the province some good?

how is it that driving and using a cell phone is illegal but you can operate a vehicle with a dog on your lap?
just wondering.
everyone have a great and safe weekend

The Dog is doing the Driving ,if over 16

Nice announcement re: the federal govt and monetary support for parents who have lost children (death or missing). Knowing of a family in PG who just lost a child, this is a good thing.

There are an awful lot of sour grapes comments on this site today. Could it be because the NDP thrashed the Liberals (and Conservatives) in both by-elections. Well, get used to it, the general election is coming up!

I’ve already accepted that the NDP will win the next election and am preparing accordingly.

Major cracks appearing in the structure after only a few runs, sat for years on the north shore and were sold for scrap value.
===========================================Heres another statement thats pure bull. The fast freeies have todate never been scraped. I’ll bet dollars to donuts that most dont even know where they are today. But they are not in a scrape pile
Cheers

Talking of the fast ferries, if the Liberals are so wonderful at business oriented stuff, how come they sold the ferries for a couple of million dollars after turning down twenty million dollars. Was that sheer incompetence, was it a deliberate act to reward friends, or was it to waste taxpayers’ money to score political points?

The so-called “German” ferries, built using Russian parts, I understand, are not in regular use. They are so badly designed that the propellers come too close to the surface when unloaded and make a terrific racket. They guzzle fuel like a drunken Premier, helping to ensure the economic viability of the Ferry Corporation. not! They are often docked in Nanaimo Harbour for days or weeks on end.

Might be time to put the reading glasses on grampa..scrap value.

Hey weaksauce.. how are you preparing. Moving to Alberta with me… LOL

Selling assets as we speak. The twits in this province can shoot themselves in the foot again if they want but I’m not gonna hang around & pay for the party this time.

And a happy 420 to all,puff,puff,pass…

The German shipbuilding industry is very heavily subsidized by the German government making it a very poor reason for buuilding over there. Then Crusty has the gall for a photo op saying she supports shipbuilding in BC. Gotta love them idiot fibs.

Weaksauce you are in for a rude surprise when getting car insurance in Alberta.

Mutt, never said I was going to AB but what’s up with the insurance?

We are heading into the last week-end before the AAP Elector Response Forms have to be handed in. The deadline for submitting the elector response form is 5:00 p.m. Tuesday April 24th.

I would ask all those who intend to sign, but havent done it yet, and those who are still collecting signatures to get as much done this week-end as possible. There are forms available for signing at the Northern Hardware, and at Canadian Tire. People will be on hand all week-end and Monday Tuesday to facilitate those who want to sign.

In addition all those who have been gathering signatures, or who want to participate in a bit of a rally should go to City Hall at 3PM on Monday April 23rd. It will be our pleasure to turn in as many signed petitions as possible on Monday afternoon. The Press and TV will be in attendence, and its hoped there will be a big turn-out.

If people really push for signatures this week-end I beleive that we can push the numbers over the top. Now is not the time to rest on out laurels.

Lets get this job done once and for all and send a huge message to the City, that we are tired of tax increases, and the spending of money on dubious (very expensive) projects.

See you on Monday at 3PM bring all the signed petitions you can muster.

i forgot what i was going to say

I will try to be at the rally at 3pm on Monday. :)
Happy Weekend, everyone!

Posted by: weaksauce on April 20 2012 8:14 AMMatt, would you like the explanation to include made up words and choo-choo train noises?

No. Just tell everyone why you badmouth the Zam. And the train is for crusty and the LIE berals. Soon Adrian is going to launch inquiry (s) and then you will hear the Choo Choo. Everyone will. And we will all find out about how the railway was sold out from under us all. And you can badmouth me or Bill or who ever you like. Aint gonna change the fact that this province is gonna change now. Times up for these rich corporate pigs. So come on weaksauce tell us why the Zjam is taking the heat for the LIE berals and how we the people has been screwed for the last 11 years. PLEASE TELL US

Remeber a top marginal tax rate of 54% under the dippers. Luxary tax on cars over $34,000. Exodus of business, head offices moving east. We went from first to worst in the country in the 90’s. Don’t rewrite history dippers, many of us lived it and won’t forget. Retired, ammonra, mattyc = brain damage.

Just wondering how much tax money would be saved if the whole prison parole system would be elimenated. Five year sentence would be five years, two would be two etc. I think it would be milions

dow7500 = corporate PIG at the troff.

The type that thinks WE THE PEOPLE should pay ALL the bills. Like 100 percent. Well guess what dow. You and your corporate pigs is gonna have to pay some of it after the NDP form the majority. And they WILL do that. So why don’t you pack your stuff and get the f outa here. Take your bizness with you too. And don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Greedy pig pay your share of the tax and quit thinking that we the people will keep paying it for you. If I remember correctly when he NDP was last in power they left a rather large surplus which gordo and his scum quickly devoured. Soon this province will have a NDP majority. Then all you & your ilk can LEAVE. Go to ontario. They have a nice HST there waiting for you. You can screw the citizens there. Just get out a here. You and your kind have bankrupted the majority of citizens in BC. Call me what you want. It will not change what’s coming for you. I hope it costs you thousands of dollars to move. Good riddance.

Soon the HST will be extinquished and the LIE berals will be exterminated. COMPLETELY

Choooooo…..Choooooo LOL LOL LOL LOL
