So Dr. Charles Jago has been chosen by George Abbott, Minister of Education, as mediator of the teachers’on-going dispute. But BCTF President,Susan Lambert, thinks Jago has little experience in labor mediation. Because Dr. Jago was past UNBC President and Chair of the Northern Health Board, the BCTF thinks he is not neutral, but has been conpromised by his previous positions.
So the BCTF is demanding his removal. Lambert says the mediator should be one who is impartial, neutral, detached, disinterested and non-partisan. Jago would supposedly get $2,000 for his efforts.
So far,he shows no sign of refusing the post. So the dispute continues apace. It’s Sort of like putting the fox in charge of the proverbial hen house.
