Core Review Contract Back Before Council

Monday, April 30, 2012 @ 3:57 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The cost of the Core Review  in Prince George, could go over the planned $350,000 budget.

In a report to be presented to Council tonight, Mayor Shari Green (who is the Chair of the Core Review Committee) says the issues Council wanted dealt with have been agreed upon. KPMG will conduct an expanded consultation plan which will add nearly $29 thousand more to the bill, and KPMG had agreed to reduce it’s “administration fee” to 2.5%, when initially KPMG wanted that fee to be 5%.

In her report to Council, Mayor Green, says “the total price agreed to is $313,720, not including administration costs and HST.”

What is not clear is; when she says “administration costs” , is she referring to the cost of City Administration’s work on this project, or the aforementioned “2.5% administration fee” to KPMG?   The Mayor will not speak to Opinion 250 in order to clarify that point.
If the report is talking about the KPMG 2.5%, then the actual cost of this contract is just over $360 thousand dollars, about  $10 thousand more than the initial budget.    The project completion date has also changed, with the new completion date now set as October 26th 2012 . That’s about a month later than originally anticipated.

This doesn’t make sense.
It’s going to cost us more money to save us a bit of money.
Must be kind of like driving clear across town to save 2 dollars

“Over budget”? Is anybody surprised?

Hopefully the savings will be in the millions.

Why why why… was the $350K announced before bids were accepted for this? You had to know that whoever took on the work would be as close to $350K as possible, and it now appears a bit over.

If we had a decent mayor we wouldn’t need a ‘core review’. IMO this is about spending money to set a political agenda where they can then refer to the ‘core review’ as their cover to make political decisions. I don’t believe for one second its about creating efficiencies or good policy for PG.

Exactly Johnny – go onto a car lot and tell them you have 50k for a vehicle then see how many cars they show you for 25k…

Still not talking to Opinion 250? Grow up Ms Green and show us some leadership.

Unbelievable stupidity! Of the kind that might come from a badly spoiled school child.

I have a solution- Ms. Green can tell her Administrative Assistant and she could then communicate the answer to Opinion 250’s legitimate question. Kind of like kids not willing to talk to each other, only through a liaison, but hey isn’t City Hall considered adult daycare?!!
