Prince George, B.C. – This afternoon on highway 16 near Shelley Road, units from the Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services Unit were performing traffic enforcement duties.
Around 2:30, Constable Dickson was wrapping up his dealings with a violator when a westbound driver pulled over to say the passenger in his vehicle had suffered a severe cut to his left thigh from a chain saw incident. The driver was taking the injured male to hospital and asked for a police escort.
Police do n ot offer that kind of servcie because of safety and liability concerns, but, the injured male was moved into the police vehicle and Constable Dickson headed toward Prince George with lights and siren engaged.
The COnstable contacted BC Amb ulance service and advised of the situation by police dispatch. Ambulance Service was asked to meet Cst Dickson enroute, and transfer the injured male to the ambulance . That would allow the injured male to receive medical attention while proceeding to the University Hospital of Northern B.C.
Cst. Dickson met the BC Ambulance Unit near the downtown core of Prince George, but because he was already very close to the hospital and the injured male was responsive, Cst Dickson continued on to UHNBC where the 25 year old injured man was turned over to medical personnel in the Emergency Ward.
The injured male, from Prince George is reportedly in stable condition at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia.

I hope buddy is going to be ok and use saw chaps in the future. Chainsaws are a dangerous tool in untrained hands.
Ditto on the chaps.
Chainsaws are a dangerous tool in anyone’s hands, even the most seasoned operator can have a lapse of attention, or keep cutting after fatigue has set in.
metalman.
Glad the member was able to get the injured person quickly to the hospital without any issues. Must have been a severe cut that warranted on the spot transport.
The police used their brains and transported the chain-saw victim directly to the hospital Emergency.
This action saved valuable time. It is hoped this incident leaves the victim getting the best of emergency treatment and that he gets well quickly.
The police are to be commended for their prompt response!
These injuries can be so fatal so fast. Good on the member to keep going! Last time I used a chainsaw, burnt the darn tree down, maybe the chain was on backwards, but I’m not gonna admit to anything.
Hope the fellow does okay.
