Man Dies In Industrial Accident At Plateau Mill West Of Vanderhoof

Vanderhoof- Information is still sketchy in a death at the Plateau Forest Products Mill west of Vanderhoof earlier today.
Police, the Coroners service, and Work Safe BC are on the scene of a death at the mill.
Initial reports say the man was working with a contractor at the mill when the accident occurred.
The Coroner’s office expects to have an update on the accident and death later this afternoon.
BID Group CEO, Brian Fehr has issued a statement which says the deceased was a maintenance worker with the Nechako Construction division of BID.
"It is with profound sadness that we report fatal injuries to one of our maintenance workers" reads the statement from Fehr " The incident occurred during last night’s night shift at Plateau Sawmill in Vanderhoof, BC. We cannot release the name of the employee until such time as the family of the worker has been notified."
According to Fehr, the incident occurred after 3:30 this morning during work on the tilt hoist line. His statement concludes with "On behalf of the BID Group family, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the worker. The safety of all employees is and continues to be a top priority for me and our management."

This is terrible. When a gang member dies, it doesn’t bother me in the least, but when someone dies trying to be a provider for his/her family it affects me deaply. My condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers.
