Terrace, B.C. – A Terrace resident is facing a long list of charges after Canada Border Services officers intercepted a parcel destined for northern B.C.

The officers became suspicious after they x-rayed a package labeled “electrical toys” which was headed from Hong Kong to Terrace. After finding inconsistencies, the parcel was opened for further examination. Agents found 21 stun guns inside. All but one of the weapons was designed to look like a flashlight.

Nearly two weeks later on April 27th, RCMP officers searched a Terrace home and turned up an additional 5 stun guns along with marijuana and some prescription drugs. A 28 year old Terrace resident faces weapons charges, including Importation of Prohibited Weapons knowing they are Prohibited, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.  He also faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

“The Importation of prohibited weapons into Canada shows a blatant disregard for police and public safety,” says Sgt Jagdev Uppal, British Columbia Federal Border Integrity Program. “The safety and security of our communities is a top priority for the RCMP and CBSA and we will continue to work together to ensure prohibited weapons are taken off the streets
