These wedding gowns are literally ‘up for grabs’ today at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George

Prince George, BC – Just in time for the upcoming ‘wedding season’, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Prince George has a unique fundraiser that will benefit brides-to-be, their elegant guests and the local organization’s mentoring programs…

Big Brothers Big Sisters Interim Executive Director, Tim Bennett, says an unexpected donation of close to 100 wedding dresses and formal gowns, along with accessories, from a local business has presented the agency with an opportunity to "help start something big for local kids".

Between 1pm and 3pm this afternoon, the organization is hosting a Cash N’ Carry at its office at 777 Kinsmen Place.  Money raised from the discounted finery ($150 for a wedding dress, $40 for an evening gown) will go directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters for local programming.

"We have an ever-growing wait list and the demand for our services is growing daily," says Bennett.  "And we want to be able to ensure that every child in Prince George who needs a mentor, gets a mentor.  The funds raised from this event will help move us one step forward."

Bennett says the agency is seeking volunteers for a number of programs and says more information is available at www.bbbspg.ca or by calling the local office at 250-563-7410.  Bennett says, "You can speak to any one of the staff and they’d be able to get you started on the process, and matched up to change a life for a local child."
