Prince George, B.C.- Dozens of people gathered at the observation platform at the University of Northern B.C, and along University Way, to get a good view of the SuperMoon as it crossed the sky over Prince George this evening.
The term SuperMoon applies to a new or full moon at a time when the Moon is either at, or near its closest approach to Earth in its orbit.
According to NASA, the Moon tonight will seem as much as 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than other full moons this year.
The average distance between the Earth and the moon is about 383,000 kilometres. Tonight, it will be about 356,955 kilometres away.
