SPCA Open House Kicks Off Fundraising Challenge

A chance to meet some of the rescued animals at the Prince George SPCA

Prince George, BC – Two little bunnies in a pen out in front of the SPCA’s facilities on Lansdowne Road were a big hit with everyone stopping by today’s open house.

SPCA Special Provincial Constable, Chad Bohanan, says the goal of the afternoon was to share information about what the SPCA does, the role that animal cruelty prevention officers play and to highlight some of the other agencies the local shelter works with – the local agility and obedience club and the Prince George Equine Rescue Society, which focuses solely on horses.

At one point, Bohanan was approached by a mother and her young daughter just stopping by to donate supplies and hand over a cheque.

Today marks the start of a fundraising challenge pitting Prince George against Kamloops in a bid to see which shelter can raise the most money.  "Donations are always welcome – we’re a non-profit entity," says the constable.  "So donations are always helpful."
