Relay For Life Surpasses Participation Goals

Saturday, May 12, 2012 @ 4:14 AM
Prince George, B.C. – The 20th annual Relay For Life at Masich Place Stadium this weekend is already hugely successful in terms of the number of people participating.
The Canadian Cancer Society’s B.C. & Yukon Branch had set what it believed to be some rather lofty goals for participation this year, and spokesperson Helen Owen says those marks have been surpassed.
“Well, we have 142 teams registered (goal was 130) and 1633 participants (goal: 1530). It’s fantastic.”
As well, many of the teams and other organizations in the city have come up with very unique ways of raising funds for the cancer society.
Cancer survivors were invited to take part in a pre-relay reception and, decked out in yellow survivor shirts,  will be opening the 24-hour event by participating in a Victory Lap at 10 this morning.

And it will be a beautiful day for it.
Thank-you all participants. On behalf of all the children, youth and adults that have to go through this terrible disease.
