Prince George, B.C. – The leader of Canada’s army troops in Western Canada, from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Vancouver Island welcomed the return of the Rocky Mountain Rangers to Prince George today.
Preceded by a military band, members of the local company of the Rangers marched onto the parade ground at the Exhibition Grounds before a grandstand full of military officers and civilians.
The Commander of Land Force, Western Area, Brigadier-General Paul Wynnyk reviewed the troops and praised the army infantry reserves in Prince George for their dedication in stepping forward to serve their country.
The Commander also acknowledged the hard work of those in the community who were persistent in fighting to re-establish the Rocky Mountain Rangers, B Company, following a 42-year absence.

There are 50 army reserves in Prince George at the present time. Brigadier-General Wynnyk spoke of the honour of serving to keep Canada safe, and also noted the fierce competition that exists between the reservists here and their counterparts in Kamloops.
At today’s ceremony, the soldiers also celebrated their graduation from basic training. These soldiers have been training on weekends and weeknights, while holding jobs or going to school, for the past five months. Today they had their chance to display their accomplishments to family and friends as they paraded outside CN Centre.
Following the parading of the troops, those in attendance were welcomed at a reception at the Meadows Armouries on Dornbierer Crescent.
