Prince George, B.C.- The investigation of alleged  theft of hydro led to  a  bust of a marijuana grow op this week.

On Tuesday, May 15 members from the North District Integrated Marihuana Enforcement Task Force (NDIME) and the Prince George Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on West Lake Road in  Prince George.

Police searched the residence and found a hydro bypass above the electrical panel and hidden under the soffit of the roof.

RCMP then located a marijuana grow operation in an outbuilding on the property. A second search warrant was obtained and Police seized 678 marijuana plants in various stages of growth along with equipment used in the cultivation of marijuana.

RCMP arrested a 22 year old male from the Lower Mainland and he is facing a number of charges which include; Theft of Telecommunications (Electricity), Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The accused was later released from custody and will be making his first court appearance in Prince George on August 15, 2012.

Really!! Aug 15 th, he will be long gone

Yep, 3 months to disappear before the court date, then he’ll claim it took too long to get to trail and walk. Now, that SUCKS!

Hydro theft has that got anything to do with the contracts the fiberals forced on Hydro related to the IPP’s. The fiberals idea of free enterprise.

Another waste of police, the rest of the world is looking at decriminalizing it and we are putting more people in jail due to it..

You got it P Val!! The money the government would make by legalizing it would be insane.. We’d get new roads every couple years, the 4 lane highway between PG and Cache Creek would be done, all of our arenas could get new opening roofs lol.. Oh, and the criminals would lose a sh** ton of money!!

How clueless are you P Val – look at all the lawyers that would not be needed; all the judges(ex lawyers). I mean what would the cops do if they couldn’t arrest pot smokers? You did not think this all the way through. Pot laws are good for business. Heeeeerrre!!!

Oh please. The government wouldn’t make anything off of pot, not near as much as some people would believe. People would either grow it themselves or buy it from the guy down the street.

Sure, decriminalize it… it might save some court time and keep a few people out of jail. But as for tax revenue, forget it.

“Don’t bogart that joint my firend pass it over to me” Ahhhh the 60’s

I disagree JohnnyBelt:
People are lazy and if they can easily buy it rather than grow it they will. Lots of people drink booze, but very few produce their own.

Mf, I agree that pot smokers are a lazy bunch of people in general, but it’s far easier to grow dope that produce booze.

This is true JB but people produced plenty of booze during prohibition. Necessity is the mother of invention.
