Ft. St. James Recycling Depot Hit by Fire
Fort St. James., B.C.- In the early morning hours of May 21, Fort St. James R.C.M.P. and Fort St. James Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the recycling facility located on Manson Street.
When emergency crews arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.
At the height of the blaze, there were as many as 20 members of the Fort St. James Fire Department and two engines battling the fire. Fire crews responded to the roof of a near by shopping center in order to protect it from igniting. Fire crews were on scene for about four hours until the fire was extinguished and the site was determined to the be safe.
The investigation is in its early stages but has been deemed suspicious with the damage estimated to be in excess of $100, 000. The Fort St. James R.C.M.P. and Fort St. James Fire Department are working together on this investigation.
