Prince George, B.C.- The head of Northern Health’s Communications department, Steve Raper, tells Opinion250, says the “issue” at the core of the Dr. David Butcher story ( read previous story) came to the attention of Northern Health on March 28th and that “Northern Health’s Vice President of Medicine was then placed on Administrative leave” says Raper.
But just two days later, Dr. David Butcher resigned. “It is important to note that Dr. Butcher resigned for personal reasons” adds Raper.
Raper is not at liberty to be specific about the issue that had been raised which lead to Northern Health putting Dr. Butcher on leave, or how the “issue” was brought to the attention of Northern Health. There was an internal investigation and Raper confirms some information was passed to the RCMP.
Prince George RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass is not able to confirm or deny if the RCMP are conducting an investigation “Typically the RCMP do not comment on any investigation, unless charges are laid, there is a public safety concern, or a public appeal could further the investigation.”

Cover up, cover up, cover up… This guy was paid by the public tax payers – as his employer, the public deserve to know the reasons behind the RCMP involvement and why it was necessary to put him on administrative leave.
The old boys club will never allow it new2pg.
The source of remuneration has no influence on privacy laws in this province or this country. This has nothing to do with the old boys club. It has everything to do with people still having the right to fair treatment under the law in this country.
Ahould he be charged with a crime we will have a different situation. Until then, because of the way the justice system works, all we will hear about are rumours …. and they can be devastating!!
Well said gus. Also, rumours can be worse than the truth, so Dr. David might be wise to make a statement.
