Building Permit Values Up Over 2011

Prince George, B.C. – Building permits issued by the City of Prince George showed a health increase in the month of April compared to the same month one year ago.
The city issued 45 permits valued at $35.9 million last month compared to 34 permits for work valued at $3.3 million in April, 2011. It should be noted that $25 million of the April 2012 total comes from one industrial permit for work on B.C. Hydro facilities on 22nd Avenue.
Three commercial permits valued at $5 million were issued last month. That included construction of a new building for a Honda dealership, replacing the Burger King building on Central and reconstructing a building for Wheaton Investments on Range Road. There were no commercial permits issued in the city in April 2011. The city issued 8 permits worth $1.7 million for new single family dwellings in Aprill of 2011, and 8 for $1.8 million in the same category this April.
Total permits to date for 2012, 137 valued at $48 million. In the corresponding period of 2011 the city had issued 95 permits for $16 million worth of work.
