The start line for the Healthy Kids Marathon at Masich Place Stadium

Prince George, BC – "There is nothing better than healthy kids," said Justice Minister and local MLA Shirley Bond just prior to the start of the kids’ run around Masich Place Stadium this morning that marked the start of the Family Y’s 5th Annual Healthy Kids Day.

Approximately 150 young runners, and some toddlers, made their way around the track three times to the cheers of parents and onlookers. 

Healthy Kids Day is presented by Integris Credit Union, which has invested $50-thousand dollars in the event over the past five years. 

Family YMCA Chief Executive Officer, Mark Miller, says, "Our aim is to show families, children, and youth that making healthy choices can be fun and easy."(click on photo for video clip)

Families are invited to the Y on Massey Drive to try out a number of free activities going on until 2pm this afternoon.
