Saturday, June 9, 2012 @ 10:25 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Things are looking up at this point for City and Regional District officials who are monitoring the levels of the Nechako and Fraser Rivers in the area.

Chris Bone at the City Emergency Operations Centre says the Fraser peaked yesterday and the latest information from the River Forecast Centre is that the river level is expected to continuing receding for the next four or five days. She says evacuation orders are still in effect for 17 homes on Farrell Street.

Donna Munt at the Regional District of Fraser/Fort George tells us staff is keeping an eye on things in the Foreman Flats and Shelley areas. Six residences on Foreman Flats were put on evacuation alert last night and will remain on alert throughout today. She says barring any heavy rainfall the Fraser should continue to recede through the weekend. Officials will be out again this afternoon to have a look at the areas in question.

Don’t get to excited yet , a buddy of mine traveling through Jasper says it is raining hard there . So bad he had to stop for the day. That is where the Fraser river starts.
