Fraser River on Slow Decline

Prince George, B.C. – The Fraser River at the South Fort George gauge peaked at 9.719 metres at 4 o’clock this morning. It is now showing a slow decline.
The BC River Forecast Centre forecasts a gradual recession over the next 5 days, but the level is expected to remain above 9 metres for some time. The river level may rise again as mountain snow melts through the remainder of June. The Nechako River continues to rise slowly.
Chris Bone, the City’s Emergency Operations Centre Communications officer, says unless circumstances change unexpectedly, no changes to the evacuation orders or alerts will occur before Monday, and no additional gabion dike construction is expected for the next few days.
The city’s Emergency Operations Centre remains activated and monitoring of river levels will continue.

Still snow in the bush up around Summit Lake and through the Pine Pass… lots of snow to melt yet at higher elevations.
