Prince George, BC – Prince George-Peace River MP Bob Zimmer says he’s pleased to see legislation tabled that will no longer require businesses to keep information that identifies the buyer of a non-restricted firearm.

As a follow up to ending the long gun registry, the proposed Firearms Information Regulations for non-restricted firearms has been tabled in the House of Commons.  Zimmer says the regulations will ensure that a long gun registry is not created through the "back door".

While businesses will continue to keep normal business records, they’ll soon no longer be required to keep any specifics that identify those purchasing long guns.

"I ame pleased to see that the business aspect of the Act is being addressed with these proposed regulations," says the local MP.  "This will eliminate the potential for another long gun registry to be created.  The will of Parliament – and Canadians must be respected."
