Prince George, BC – The Prince George Cougars have inked a standard Western Hockey League contract with their top pick from the 2012 Bantam Draft.

The Cats selected 15-year-old Jansen Harkins of North Vancouver second overall in the draft – trading their third overall pick and a third round selection in 2013 to the Prince Albert Raiders.

Harkins is coming off a banner season with the North Shore Winterclub Winterhawks, tallying 68 goals and 122-points.  He was also recently named a co-winner of this year’s Minor Hockey Player of the Year Award.

"The best word to describe him is ‘complete’," said Prince George Cougars Assistant GM, Wade Klippenstein on draft day.

GM Dallas Thompson adds, "We are excited to see Jansen in training camp to start his career with the Cougars and the WHL."
