Library’s Skylab Unveiled Under the Stars
New Skylab and lower computer lab at main branch of PG Public Library opens today
Prince George, BC – The Prince George Public Library hosted a VIP launch party to officially unveil what its calling a ‘spectacular piece of architecture’: the Skylab and library’s newest computer lab which sits just underneath the glass loft on the second floor.
Library staff, community donors and local elected officials were on-hand for the ribbon-cutting on the $260-thousand dollar aesthetically-pleasing improvement to the Bob Harkins branch last night. It was the first opportunity to ascend the stairway to the stars, or at least a view of the stars from a newly-created mezzanine that rises partway to the ceiling.
Today will be the first opportunity for the public to test out the large reading chairs that line the perimeter of the loft, with a view of Connaught Hill and UNBC out of the angled ceiling windows.
There is a special storytime ‘Spacewalk’ for children at 11:30 this morning, followed by presentations from Teen Tech Tutors between noon and 1pm, and a general session on the ‘best of’ computers and the internet between 1pm and 2pm.

“A view of Connaught Hill”? Hardy har har. Should be a good selling feature for the mega buck apartment condo next door soon.
