Interesting, but inaccurate. Seniors get a tax reduction if over 65 and they can also defer paying ANY taxes on their primary residence for the rest of their lives.

Even with the tax reduction for over 65 my taxes went up to the point that I am scrambling to pay them. As for the defer paying any taxes on my residence I have never heard of it nor could find any information regarding it. If my taxes go up any more I will have to sell.

You guys who make inane statements about taxes for seniors need to get a head check.
The piss ass amount that taxes are deducted when you turn 65 are not much. In addition to defer your taxes, doesnt mean you dont pay them, it just means that it comes out of your estate when you die.
Life is not about taxes. It is about living. Seniors should not have to leave their homes because of stupid tax policy by different levels of Government.
Keep in mind that once a person turns 65 their incomes are reduced by approx 60% which is a big hit, however the cost of living, and other costs including taxes keep rising.
This town is so screwed up I doubt if they can ever get anything straight. We do not have enough new houses being built, or enough new industry to bring in enough taxes to pay the increases to City employees, fireman, police, let alone other costs. We are the victims of Government ineptitude, and we have to change things.
These changes have to be signficant, and I seriously doubt that the Core Reveiw will even come close to solving any of them.
I think that the time has come for a group of taxpayers to band together and fight City hall. If any senior has to leave his home because of taxes, then that is the last straw.
If the Mountain will not come to Muhammand, then Muhammand will go to the Mountain.

As a person becomes elderly, most want to (or need to) move closer to the services they require, which means closer to doctors, specialists, etc. You can brag all you want about living outside the city, but reality is that eventually 99% of us will be back.
So back to the concern of the rapid increase of house taxes.
