Fraser Could Get Worse Before it Gets Better

Prince George, B.C. – Although the Fraser River has receded somewhat over the past couple of days since peaking on Wednesday at 10.02metres, the experts predict it could climb above that mark before the end of the weekend.
The River Forecast Centre says the flood warning remains in effect for the Fraser River through South Fort in Prince George, as the river remains above flood levels ( 9.4 meters) and a low pressure system is expected to dump between 30 and 50mm of rain into the river systems by the end of the weekend.
Combine the rain with the rapid snowpack melt, and experts say the Fraser at South Fort could rise to 10.035 metres by late Sunday.
The Nechako River is also very high, but remains under a high streamflow advisory at this point.
All evacuation alerts and orders remain in effect.
