Prince George, B.C. – Two sections of Highway 16 east have been closed to traffic, with no indication of when they might re-open.
The highway is closed in both directions, 8 kilometres west of the junction with Highway 5 at Tete Jaune Cache, due to a mud slide. There is no detour available. Highway 16 is also closed to all traffic 26 kilometres east of the Highway 5 junction because of flooding. Again there is no detour available.
Officials with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure now estimate both affected sections of Highway 16 will re-open to traffic at approximately 6 this evening.
