Price Drop BEFORE a Long Weekend???

Tuesday, June 26, 2012 @ 12:14 PM

Prince George, B.C.-  It may seem  very strange to most drivers, but  yesterday, the price for  a litre of  regular gas started to drop in Prince George,  a full 2 cents off the 133.9 we have been paying for months.

Today, the  price change  is  the norm throughout the City, with the new  price being 131.9.

While a welcome change,  here are just a few  other  prices noted  in  other communities:

Brentwood Bay ( Vancouver Island)     100.9 (lowest in the Province)

Kamloops  111.9

Richmond  155.9 (highest in the province)

Thanks mr oil company, Your cost on raw product falls 20 percent. and you give us a 2 cent break.

Really, we canadians would like to call the combines act on you. But the governments are right in there with the oil companies, pilfering out of the tills.

Give me a Break, Gas is way cheaper in Victoria, but they do have Refinery ,don’t they ? Small Towns and Cities allways been a ripoff and you wonder why People don’t shop there ?

I saw a sign at one station this morning advertising it at $1.129. I assume it was a typo. :)

125.9 at Shellbourne and Hillside, go take this PG.

Yes faxman I saw that too. I called and it was a typo. The sign got shut off right away lol

“Give me a Break, Gas is way cheaper in Victoria, but they do have Refinery, don’t they?”

No, but there are gas refineries in the Montreal area and they are paying 134.9. PG is getting a deal, LOL :)

100.9 in Victoria!

If PG was the provincial capital I would assume we would get our gas for 30 cents less than the rest of the province as well. I guess “Northern Capital” doesn’t count.

There’s a price war in Victoria. It’ll go back up to more than what we’re paying in no time at all.

Carbon tax going up on July 01. No wonder the temperature in PG ain’t warming. The carbon tax IS working. Stay cool.

July 1st. Higher carbon tax coming to all us naughty gas guzzling British Columbians.

Whoops….sorry Harb….didn’t mean to step on ya.

That scam carbon tax almost six cents and going up. Don’t ya all feel warm a fuzzy.

Beat the oil companies at their own game. Invest in them… especially the ones who pay dividends.

Hey there Outwest:

Maybe you’re a tad behind the times. PG has had a refinery since 1967. They are ripping us off. We are closer to the oil than you, a pipeline runs through the centre of the city, we have a refinery, and there is no excuse for our prices except GREED.

It still amazes me how many people complain, complain and complain some more about gas prices. Do something about it, get a fuel efficient vehicle and find ways to conserve fuel.

My wife and I have 2 vehicles and only spend about $5K a year on gas. That’s still pretty affordable if you ask me.

The car salesman must be really getting good at their jobs because the number of 1 tonne dually’s that I see on the roads these days is crazy. Not too many of them are pulling big trailers either……guess the price of gas isn’t that bad….haha.

Big GD deal…..

They’ll be sticking it to us come July 1st.

It’s only Tuesday; they still have time to increase it by Friday. Or, they have lulled up into a false sense of security and we will get smacked with a huge increase next week.

It’s true My3Centsworth that there’s a “gas war”
in Victoria… some say it’s caused by Costco.
All I know is that I was in Victoria in Dec,. Jan. Mar. and Apr. and now. Each time there has been a gas war. Yesterday gas was as low as 96.9. Different stations had different prices.
I haven’t checked recently, but twice when I visited last year the Langford (Victoria) Superstore gas bar offered “10 cents per litre off ” discount coupons. I do not buy gas at the PG Superstore because of their meagre 3.5 cent discount.

Contributors on this site don’t whine or complain. They make “observations” and comment on them. Partly for cheap therapy and to commiserate with others.

They know they got us over a barrel. In the good old days one had to buy hay!

Bang on mwk. Judging by the average vehicle in this town, gas prices are not a concern of most.

1.17 here on PEI, back to 1.31 today in PG

We pay more than Newfoundland for gas… even PEI is running 117 per litre

Crude has been on a steep slide the last month and is trading lower than $80 atm

When crude was at it’s present day price at $79.00 we were paying 98 c p/l

And Silly Hall wants us to pay a tax on top of all that on gas to fix the pavement–sorry but my tax pocket is empty and so is my vehicle.

supertech: I have been at the Refinery when I worked, been a few years but it’s still there. The Question I asked , why we pay so much for Gas with a Pipeline and Refinery in Place and the Island has not ?
