Derailment West of McBride

Tuesday, June 26, 2012 @ 12:13 PM
Prince George, B.C.- CN crews are on site of a derailment west of McBride.

CN’s Regional Manager for Public and Government Affairs, Emily Hamer, says 8 loaded coke cars went off the tracks near Poser at around 9:30 this morning.

“All of the cars are upright, there were no injuries and none of the product spilled so there is no danger to the environment” says Hamer.

Although crews are currently on scene, there is no immediate indication of when the cars will be back on track.

What’s a coke car?

Somnething out of Mexico

ok I guess it is what it says – a train car filled with soft drinks…

it is obviously a typing error. it must be great to be as perfect as all of you that you have to point out others mistakes!! just remember when you are pointing your finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you!

Petroleum coke, or petcoke. Used as fuel of some sort, I believe its almost like coal but don’t quote me on that.

Coke is the solid carbonaceous material derived from destructive distillation of low-ash, low-sulfur bituminous coal.

Does that help ?

No.It was funnier reading the posts.

lol. That was awesome.

Coke is used in Kitimat in the manufacture of Aluminum. I believe that it burns much hotter than regular coal.

coke is a processed form of coal.
