At Least One Injured In Incident Involving Jeep And All-Terrain Vehicle
Accident scene at north side of N.Nechako Road, west of intersection with Foothills photo submitted
Prince George, BC – Emergency First Responders are on the scene of Jeep roll-over that occurred near the intersection of Foothills Boulevard and North Nechako Road.
According to a witness, the Jeep appears to have rolled before coming to rest in a ditch on the north side of North Nechako Road, just before the intersection with Foothills. An side-by-side all-terrain vehicle is parked at the side of the road. Early indications are that the Jeep may have swerved to avoid the all-terrain vehicle as it was crossing the road from one ditch to another.
Although three ambulances are on the scene, reports now suggest just one person was injured. 250News will have further details as they become available.

On Friday afternoon a quad cut off a red chev pickup on foothills up by Velencheur Rd. The red pickup swerved to avoid the quad which was driving recklessly along the shoulder at oabout 50 mph! I was behind the red chev 4×4 which had a yound woman driving it. She was scared. She pulled over down beside North nechako road and Fotthills. The punk was unknown to her and I went after him but he shot off down the trail and I couldn’t follow him. He shot rocks all over cars and dusted traffic so bad you couldn’t see the car ahead of you. He crossed the (foothills road) highway down near North Nechako road.
I’m sorry folks but if this was him, I have no sympathy for him. He pulled out on the highway up near Flamingo Road and beat the traffic to North Nechako road. He was crazy reckless!
from the story: “An side-by-side all-terrain vehicle is parked at the side of the road”
Was the ATV you saw one of the side by side versions? Those are killers even moreso than single “rider-type” vehicles rather than “driver-type” vehicles.
ATVs? It is only against the law IF you get caught. Doncha know?

Huh???
One can see them crossing Foothills just up from the intersection all the time! During the winter it’s snowmobiles and it’s motorbikes and quads the rest of the year! I don’t think they are allowed to be on the pavement interfering with traffic at any time!
As and avid ATV operator I can say that 95% of all ATV operators are good, common sense people, its those darn 5% who make everyone look bad. Not allot different than auto drivers I guess.
Sue the world right out from under the idiot. Week ago going down Blackwater just off the highway, an ATV came from the side, joined traffic and passed on a curve.
Yeah, I’ve seen ATV’ers on this road a few times and had a near miss once. When ATV’s travel along and across heavily travelled public roads, this kind of stuff will happen. It shouldn’t, but it does.
Side by sides and ATV are not allowed in the road right of way, which is much more than the paved section. They are not allowed to cross a highway unless they get special permits. We all know, of course, that as far as the MVA goes, city streets are highways.
ATVs have about 5PSI tire pressure and, as a result lose a lot of maneuverability on paved roads. This topic pops up on here at least once a year. Rehashing here.

Dragonmaster. Not sure why the huh. could be about sever things.
All answer one that it might be about if you do not know the difference between a side-by-side and an ATV.
An ATV is rider active, similar to a motorbike. Going across a ditch straight on or sideways, for instance, is done quite differently with the two types of vehicles.
On an ATV you can postion your body towards the back of the ATV as you go down into the ditch so that the centre of gravity shifts to the back and you do not potentially flip forward, and the reverse when you go up the other side so that you do not flip backwards.
Since you are fixed into seats, likely with seatbelts even, it is easy to flip a side-by-side towards the front or the back. It is not rider active.
One rides a motorbike and ATV, one drives a car, golf cart and side-by-side. :-)
riding as in stradling a seat.
driving as in sitting with legs in front
BTW, the broken arm is a typical injury for the side-by-side if it rolled.
The only reason she probably stayed at the scene was due to her injury.
GET A JEEP.
I was told by an RCMP officer some years ago that ATVs and trail bikes can not be used anywhere within city limits. It’s against the law. He included Foothills in that and the commonly used trails visible alongside Foothills. I had made a complaint to the RCMP about trail bikes and ATVs roaring around in clouds of dust on the Hart Ski Hill. In order to get to Foothills they also speed through a subdivision at double the speed limit, often on the only sidewalk…
PG: “I was told by an RCMP officer some years ago that ATVs and trail bikes can not be used anywhere within city limits.”
I was under that impression as well. If that’s true and the police started enforcing this one, people would likely be crying “Police State” or something similar. Another case of ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’.
Sorry Gus, I’ve been riding quads, dirt bikes and side-by-sides for years. Your explanation leaves me with a headache.
Prince George, operation of atv’s or any other type of off hwy vehicle is legal in city limits on private property.
